Connecting Network Activities vs Reporting (Spend): What’s the Difference
This article explains the difference between Reporting (spend data) and Marketing Activities in INCRMNTAL, and how each is used by the models.
When integrating marketing platforms (such as Apple Search Ads, Google, Meta etc) with INCRMNTAL, you may notice two separate toggles:
-
Reporting (Spend Data)
-
Marketing Activities
Although both come from the same source, they serve very different purposes in the platform.
Spend (Reporting Data)
Spend represents the amount invested in your marketing efforts.
This data is typically available at:
-
Channel level
-
Campaign level
-
Ad group level
It reflects how much budget was allocated and spent over time.
Marketing Activities (Activity Logs)
Marketing Activities are logs of changes made in your marketing setup.
These include:
-
Campaign opening or closure
-
Budget increases or decreases
-
Bid changes
-
Creative Changes (for some Networks), etc
Activities are the core signals used by the models. Each activity represents a measurable change (micro-experiment). The platform analyzes these changes to assess performance and incremental impact.
How to Enable Spend and Marketing Activities from Networks
- Navigate to Configuration > Integrations in your INCRMNTAL dashboard
2. Click "Add Integration"

3. Search Network you would like to connect in the search row, and click Add. You can read here how to integrate different Networks to the Platform.

Within the integration setup, enable:
-
Reporting toggle if you with to integrate spends directly from the network
-
Enable the 'Activities' toggle to pull marketing activity logs

Done!
