This article provides a step-by-step guide on how to populate and link an automated Google Sheet for adding external activities to your dashboard
On your dashboard, you can identify and measure the changes in spend across all of your marketing activities. Those are being automatically detected thanks to your networks' changelog API, or the automated detection of our platform.
However, there are different external events that are not a part of your marketing spend, which can impact your performance significantly, and should be noted on the board.
A few examples we came across with our customers are as follows:
- In-Game events
- Promotions
- Malfunctions and errors
- Changes to the app, website, or game (e.g. rebranding, redesign, new logic definitions, new versions or products, and so on).
- World events (e.g. war, pandemic lockdowns, etc)
Should you have regular promotions, in-game events, or other events that impact your performance significantly, you can add them in bulk through a Google Sheet integration.
Tip: It is also possible to add manual activities without an integration with Sheets. See here how.
Schema
Below you can see an example of schema for adding External Activities to the Google Sheet.
Note: the Google Sheet should be in the format as above, please contact your CSM to receive the template for Manual Activities
The fields within the schema are detailed below:
- App (Mandatory) - Insert the name of your app, as appears in the INCRMNTAL dashboard.
- Activity Name (Mandatory) - Enter the name you wish to give the activity (e.g. Product Launch - iPhone 16)
- Changed (Mandatory) - Define the change type, please select the type from the drop-down menu and do not change or add types. You can read about different types here.
- Budget ($) - In case you have a budget for the event you're adding, you can add it here.
- Activity Time start (Mandatory) - The first day of the activity you're adding.
- Activity Time End - Some activity types have the ability to be defined for less than the 14 days we measure by default. If you had a promotion for a week, for instance, enter the end date you desire to have, based on the activity type you chose.
Activity Time End cannot exceed 14 days since the starting date.
- Notes - Any notes you'd like to include in the activity
- Platform - Fill in the platforms you're running marketing activities on (iOS, Android, etc). Please select the type from the drop-down menu and do not change or add types. Can be left blank, if the activity is impacting all the Platforms.
- Country - This can be left blank, if the activity is impacting performance world wide. However, in case the activity (e.g. malfunction in the app) impacts only some countries, fill in those countries in this field
Connecting the Sheet to the Dashboard
You can find instructions on how to connect Google Sheets to your dashboard here.
After integrating the sheet, click the checkbox titled 'manual activities'. Click 'Save'.
We'd also advise granting permissions to your dedicated CSM to the file, to ensure correct definition of the activities.
Removal or Fix of an Already-Added Activity
Removing activities should be done through the dashboard, by clicking the activity you wish to remove and click "Delete Activity" and then from the Sheet to prevent it from appearing if there was a data rerun.
